Written by Henley Business School | Oct 21, 2025 10:05:03 AM

Henley's Executive MBA Global, ranked as the top 1 position Executive programme in the Nordics by the FT Ranking 2025, is a two-year degree that develops influential leaders, who can make a greater impact on the challenges of our fast pace global economy.

In this online session, we give you a taster of the world-class teaching that Henley's EMBA students receive from our faculty.

The session will be led by Benjamin Laker, Professor of Leadership at Henley Business School, a visionary thinker redefining the possibilities of modern work, and a LinkedIn Top Voice. Professor Laker teaches the Leadership module of the EMBA programme, and in this taster he will give a flavour the learning experience.

Real transformation isn’t driven by hierarchy, it’s built through influence

During his EMBA taster session, Professor Laker will talk about how effective leadership today relies on influence rather than formal authority, especially as traditional hierarchies give way to more agile organisational structures.

In a fast-moving world, those who make the work move forward are the ones who can bridge silos, translate between functions, and earn the trust of colleagues across boundaries. Authority can be given in an instant, whereas influence must be built, and that makes it far more valuable—and fragile.

Join Professor Laker in exploring what  this means for leaders trying to navigate complexity.
